Forest Fairy

She sits with her knees pulled in, not hiding exactly — more like thinking. Forest Fairy is built entirely from wire: hundreds of strands layered and woven into a figure that is simultaneously dense and completely open to light. The body reads blue-black at the torso, warming into greens and yellows at the crown, a transition that happened in the painting rather than being planned from the start.

The wings — if they are wings — extend from the shoulder blades in a loose tangle of unresolved wire ends, neither decorative nor functional, more like something that grew there and was left alone. The whole piece carries the quality of something caught mid-moment in a forest clearing: present enough to see, not quite solid enough to touch.
